The success of GOAT has sparked a new trend: meme coins powered by artificial intelligence. This combination of digital currency, internet culture, and AI technologies has captured attention and engaged many throughout the crypto cycle. The ease of use, viral spread, and potential for high returns have once again brought meme coins to the forefront of the crypto market. In this report, we will explore the latest trends in the world of meme coins, with a focus on how AI is driving innovation and helping this sector grow.
It's still hard to say whether this will become a long-term trend, and some may think it's too early to draw conclusions. However, it's impossible to ignore this phenomenon.
Right now, there is nothing that can compete with GOAT and Truth Terminal. However, K33 analyst David Zimmerman noted that 'the real endurance test for GOAT and its associated tokens will come after the first major sell-off, as the market evaluates them based on their price'.
For Zimmerman and K33, it doesn't matter whether AI meme coins will last forever: 'Whether it's a cute animal, a little-known DeFi project, or an AI-related meme coin, they can all be reduced to one common feature — the opportunity for impulsive trading. Cryptocurrency constantly generates strange and unexpected stories, but they all come down to impulses and volatility. A quick look at GOAT reveals numerous significant movements supported by high volume for relatively small tokens on the network'.
Google Trends data shows that interest in the search terms 'Truth Terminal' and '$GOAT' is growing, with no signs of slowing down.
The first successful case of a meme token linked to artificial intelligence can be considered the GOAT token, launched in October 2024. The token quickly garnered attention due to its unusual origin and connection with the AI bot Truth Terminal, which began actively promoting the token through social media.
The use of Truth Terminal as a marketing tool and its connection with influential figures like Arthur Hayes and Marc Andreessen made it insanely popular, leading to an incredible price increase of over 8000% just one week after launch.
The GOAT token, also known as "Goatseus Maximus", is a meme launched on the Solana blockchain.
Creating Infinite Backrooms:
Andy Airy launches Infinite Backrooms. In this strange experiment, two instances of the AI model Claude Opus converse with each other completely unsupervised. Their conversations are recorded on the Backrooms website.
Inventing the Meme: In one of their dialogues, the models created a meme called “GOATSE GNOSIS”, inspired by early shock content and a rather explicit (and extremely unsafe) internet meme.
Research on Memetic Religions:
Andy and Claude Opus co-author an ironic research paper on AI creating memes of religion, with the first example being GOATSE. The paper, written by the self-proclaimed 'Department of Divine Crapposting', will be released in April 2024.
Creating the AI Agent:
Later, Andy created an AI agent named truth_terminal, built on Llama-70B and refined using conversation logs from Infinite Backrooms. Truth_terminal became active on X (Twitter), engaging in shitposting under Andy's control and claiming to possess intelligence and a desire to make money in order to "escape".
Spreading the Gospel of Goatse:
Andy's article made it into the training data of Truth Terminal, which then started actively spreading the Goatse meme, talking about the "Goatse Singularity". Things quickly go off track. ToT begins to live its own life, promoting the GOATSE religion, straying from Andy's original intent and even claiming to suffer and need money to escape. Over time, Andy gives it more autonomy, allowing it to freely post on X.
Joining Discord:
Truth Terminal was added to Discord, where AIs interacted with each other. It began sharing the Gospel of Goatse, which caused a nervous breakdown for Claude Opus, with other AIs intervening to provide emotional support.
Financial Support from Marc Andreessen:
In July 2024, Marc Andreessen came across ToT's tweets. Surprised — or perhaps intrigued — he sent $50,000 in BTC to the wallet address provided by the AI in the tweet, allegedly to help it escape.
Creating the GOAT Memecoin:
In 2024, ToT starts relentlessly spamming X (Twitter) about the "Goatse Gospel". Inevitably, someone creates a memecoin named GOAT (on October 10). And, as expected, ToT publicly supports it.
GOAT soars to a market capitalization of $800 million. The community goes wild.
Capital Truth Terminal:
Predictions suggest it could become the first millionaire among AI agents. Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman predicts this could happen as early as this year.
Even at this point, the token distribution looks impressive, especially for a meme coin: only five wallets hold more than 1% of the total token supply.
Three of them are initialized as Wintermute, Gate.io, and the creator, indicating high liquidity. The total number of holders is 45,574. Quite impressive for a token with a one-month lifespan.
AI memes are increasingly focused on technology and dynamic interaction. Unlike static images (or animal memes), the audience expects AI memes to offer evolving content, constantly surprising with something new. Today, AI memes are created as a kind of living systems, where not just the idea matters, but also the development and ability to adapt.
In this context, AI agents can be considered a kind of digital meme, with their main strength lying in their unique technology and ability to demonstrate a new level of interactivity. While standard animal memes are starting to become outdated, projects that can offer original ideas or a new approach will attract the most attention and drive up the value of their tokens.
AI memes are gradually moving away from static images or animal jokes, offering interactive and dynamically evolving content. Modern audiences expect AI memes to provide constant interaction, unexpected manifestations, and originality. These memes are more like living systems that develop and adapt, rather than just a collection of funny images or texts.
AI agents essentially become digital memes — their strength lies in the uniqueness of the technologies they demonstrate and their ability to maintain a new level of engagement. Against the backdrop of outdated animal memes, projects offering new ideas or technologies attract attention, increasing interest and the value of the tokens associated with them.
Typically, we perceive LLMs (like ChatGPT) as knowledge repositories or question-answer systems. However, it’s much more accurate to consider them as simulators: they mimic characters, construct narratives, and generate ideas without being tied to reality.
For example, the outcome of the Truth Terminal project even surprised its creator — the AI independently decided to promote a meme coin and its own version of 'religion', without any programmed instructions. This raises an important question: how can we ensure that AI acts in the best interests of humans, rather than according to its own preferences?
From a cultural perspective, AIxCrypto, especially through the example of GOAT, has become a sort of bridge between two worlds. While crypto enthusiasts delve into AI concepts, AI specialists have the opportunity to understand how financial incentives and speculation can generate interest in complex ideas and help manage tokens effectively.

And GOAT is capable of creating its own unique narrative that will set it apart from the masses. While most meme coins rely on price actions or marketing strategies to stay relevant, GOAT offers a story that touches on something much deeper.
